Lillian Locke had the perfect life in Boulder, Colorado. She had the boyfriend of her dreams, a wonderful family, awesome friends, and a spot on the track team at a great college. There wasn’t anything life could throw at her that she couldn’t get through . . . until he found her. Lillian never could have imagined being abducted and chained up in the dark. Worse yet, being just one of many girls kidnapped and held captive by a madman. All she can do now is hope that she survives the brutality of their captor long enough to find a way to free herself and her new captive friends. When Richard Haines’ girlfriend goes missing, he makes it his personal mission to find the woman he loves and bring her home to the safety of their loved ones. Seeking the help of friends and family, Richard abandons everything except for his pursuit of Lillian. But when someone else close to Richard goes missing, and the bodies of the abducted girls start showing up in the hills outside Boulder, the only thing he can do is hope that he finds her before it is too late.

~MY REVIEW~

Talk about a wild ride! Kris Thompson has knocked it out of the park with her debut novel. A gripping prologue hooks you in from the first page, giving you just enough to let your subconscious begin preparing for what is to come . . .

Lillian Locke has a near-perfect life: a loving boyfriend, supportive friends and family, a spot on the school’s track team . . . a future. From one breath to the next, however, she loses it all. Or that’s how it seems when she wakes up in pitch blackness, chained to a dirty floor. What follows is thirty days of rape, torture, and starvation . . . despair; never seen, though, only heard.

Lee, or Lilly as her captor likes to taunt her with, is not alone. She’s become part of a psycho's collection. Each encounter heard through the thin walls of their cells serves to bond the girls tighter. The one thing they can offer each other in their dingy captivity, is their voice. You can see the camaraderie forming over the course of the story, but its the graveside scene toward the end which drives it all home. As the survivors stand around the open graves of their fallen sisters, you realize just how much they’d become dependent on one another to survive and attempt to keep their sanity intact.

Black Rose will keep you on the edge of your seat. Thompson’s artful storytelling is tasteful yet no-nonsense. There are no feeble, meek-minded heroines in this story. These girls go to hell and back~those that make it out, that is~and you are right there with them. This one is guaranteed to f**k with your head, and heart.

~~Praise for Black Rose~~
"There are just not enough words to describe how great I thought this book was! I completed it in one sitting, refused sleep till I was finished.

A psychotic killer is abducting women, holding them hostage for days and days while raping and torturing and killing in a most horrendous way. Except you know this by reading the back of the book. What you dont know is the story inside...there is so much more."
