EXCERPT:
Seth gazed down into pools of black, into Krista’s large beautiful eyes, and was lost to the humble pain reflecting from them. A direct result of having lost her best friend. He hated to see her cry, and the fact he caused it now had him feeling awkward, ashamed, and less than human.
How could he have left her like that? It was a damn good question. Even though he’d always been able to reason with himself that it was the right thing to do, he faced the obvious fact it had been incredibly painful for her.
He continued to look down at her as she fought to reign in her emotions, her bottom lip quivering and breaking his heart. Proving to him, he had been wrong, and there were no words to right his mistakes. He gently reached out and touched her face, wiping away the tears. “I am sorry, Krista. I never meant to hurt you, I swear. I thought it would be best if I never resurfaced, and you would finally be able to move on without me.”
He knew the excuse was an old one, and it would burn her deeply to know he still harbored the desire to protect her by distancing himself. He also knew that even though he felt inclined to keep his distance, he could never again walk away from her. Her presence soothed his battered soul, and he would never be able to continue without her. He was suddenly determined that he would earn back her friendship, no matter what he had to do.
Krista didn’t let go of her grip on him but was suddenly desperate to have her questions answered to fill in the gaps and understand where he had been? Why was he here? And what did it all mean? “What’s going on, Seth? Why are you here?” she asked warily, fearing that despite his apology, he would up and disappear the first chance that he got.
Seth thought about his time in Mexico, his recent realization of his possible contributions to the murders there, or his inevitable descent into insanity, following in the footsteps of his mother. He stepped back from her, regressing immediately into an old pattern of keeping his tainted darkness away from her pure light.
“I need your help, Kris.”
Krista drew a deep, shaky breath, composing herself as she looked into him. She would see his weakness and that he was struggling with something bigger than he was, probably bigger than what she could handle. But she would help him as best she could. He was sure of that. No matter how it affected her. That’s what he worried about.
“Okay. I’ll help you. But you have to promise me just one thing,” she demanded, pointing her finger at him with a stern warning in her tone. “You have to promise me that you are going to be completely open and honest with me. You aren’t going to hide anything in the name of protecting me. I am sick of being treated with callous indifference so that you can feel like some sort of martyred hero. There is no point in me helping you with anything if we aren’t on the level. Understand?”
Seth clenched his jaw and knew he deserved the insult, while she also deserved exactly what she was asking for—honesty and trust. He nodded in affirmation. He would give her both. “I understand.”
Krista cocked her head to the side and continued to size him up with a wary, narrow-eyed gaze, “Fine, then let’s get out of here. We can go back to my apartment and order pizza while you fill me in on the last decade of your life and what it is you need help with. I’m hungry!” she stated emphatically as she spun on her heel. She crossed the room, gathered her briefcase, and turned back to lead the way out of the building.
As she approached him, she gave her best imitation of Ricky Ricardo’s famous Cuban accent, “Lucy, you have some ‘splaining to do!” and slipped her left arm into his right, gently pulling him toward the staircase. Same old Krista, bossy as ever.

BOOK BLITZ: A Whole New Duke by Samantha Holt #GIVEAWAY

A Whole New Duke
Samantha Holt
Publication date: November 10th 2019
Genres: Adult, Historical, Romance
The Dark Duke they call him.
And he certainly matches up to his name. From his looks to his constantly furrowed brow, Miss Beatrice Edgerton is under no illusions as to the status of their arranged marriage.
It will be very much one of convenience. With him conveniently providing the title her family so desperately wants and her family bringing in plenty of money for his dilapidated home. She is simply grateful he is younger than her first husband.
Lord Morton, Duke of Hartwich, is only a little perturbed by the vibrant Beatrice. After all, he sets her straight from the very first day of their marriage—this is one of mutual benefit. In one way only. She can expect no affection or romance from him.
Because, frankly, he is incapable of such things. Being a one-legged duke with a slightly dark past brings enough challenges without him having to worry about a wife too. His days of concern for anyone are long gone.
Unfortunately, It is not only the duke’s dark demeanor she has to deal with. Someone is trying to cause trouble for them but they cannot fathom who or why.
Grace is determined to make the best of the situation, even whilst spending Christmas with the duke alone in the eerie Hartwich Hall. Why, perhaps she might even be able to change the duke’s mind about their relationship.
Especially after they share a fiery kiss…or three…
EXCERPT:
Straightening her shoulders, Bea marched toward Adam. She kept her chin lifted and her gaze set upon her target. Nothing was going to dissuade her today. After all, she had spent too many days watching him ride in the crisp morning air with a pang of jealousy. It was high time she learned to ride too.
And her husband was going to teach her whether he liked it or not.
He glanced her way and she saw his shoulders stiffen. He said something to the groom, who retreated into the shadows of the stable block, leaving them alone in the bitter morning. If it did not snow by Christmas, Bea would be surprised indeed.
Most mornings, a hard frost lay upon the ground, lit by bright, misty sunshine. All it needed was a little warmth in the air and snow would be upon them. She was rather looking forward to seeing what Hartwich Hall looked like in the snow. Would it appear more attractive? Less harsh and ancient?
“What can I do for you, Bea?”
She met his gaze firmly and squared her posture as though readying herself for a fight. Which it would likely be. Though they had managed not to argue since the night they shared a bed, it was only a matter of time, and she doubted he would be excited about sparing the time to teach her.
However, she was a duchess, and it seemed correct that she should know how to ride. Not to mention, she envied his freedom. Whilst she enjoyed a good walk—especially now she knew where she was going—the speed and excitement of riding seemed enthralling. She had been deliberately getting to know the horses to overcome any lingering fears just so she could ask Adam this…
“I would like to learn to ride.”
The corners of his lips curved. “You do not even like horses, Bea.”
She scowled at this. “I did not like horses. I do now that Persephone and I have bonded. And I wish to learn how to ride. I think you should teach me.”
He shook his head. “No.” He turned on his heel and marched over to the water pump, setting a bucket underneath it.
“No?” she repeated, hastening after him. “What sort of an answer is that?”
He spared her a quick glance as he began to pump. “A negative one, I believe.”
She exhaled. “I think it proper that I should learn.”
“Many women do not ride. I think it quite proper that you do not.” Adam worked the pump vigorously, drawing her attention to the muscles in his arms as they flexed against the pale white of his shirt.
A tiny shiver ran through her while she recalled that very arm being wrapped around her the other night when she had been so cold. Sometimes, she could swear her husband was two different men. The one who was determined to ignore and frustrate her at every turn and the gentleman who could be soft and even kind at times. For all his frustration with her, at least she was damn well predictable.
Forcing her gaze away, she propped her hands on her hips. She could not allow him to distract her. “If you do not teach me, I shall find someone else who will.”
He shook his head again. “No one will teach you, be assured of that.”
“Because you will tell them not to? Because you will threaten their jobs?”
He smiled. “Precisely.”
“You are…just…just awful sometimes.”
He hefted up the bucket. “Don’t I know it.”
Bea followed him as he took the bucket into the stable block and poured it out into a trough. “It would be simple enough to teach me, surely? Just think, if I can ride, I will not have to plague you so much.”
“A welcome prospect indeed but you are not riding, Bea, and that is final.”
He moved past her and out of the building as though she did not exist. She followed him out to the water pump again. “You cannot dictate what I do, Adam.”
“I am your husband. I can do precisely that,” he said.
“I shall learn, one way or another. I shall just climb up on a horse and hope for the best.”
His jaw tensed and dropped the bucket to the floor and faced her fully. “You damn well will not.”
“I absolutely will.”

BOOK BLITZ: No Broken Beast by Nicole Snow #GIVEAWAY

No Broken Beast
Nicole Snow

Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Fierce. Scarred. Ginormous grump.
And I have to tell him he’s a father…

Brilliant life decisions—falling for the bad guy.
Leo damn Regis. Hated scourge of Heart’s Edge.
A wall with arms and legs. Hercules dipped in ink. Incandescent looks.
The legend, the outlaw, the boy I loved.

But the man they call “Nine” isn’t the villain they think.
He saved my life and seared my heart once upon a messed up time.
We planned our great escape. He made promises in diamond.
Then the fiery truth said Nope to our Ever After.

I’m not here to kiss and make up. I’m looking for my missing sister.
One hulking, gravel-voiced man has the clues.
Ugh. I so don’t need Leo’s protection.
Don’t even get me started on his oh-so-secret past.

The best part? He doesn’t have a clue what I’m hiding.
It’s got ten little fingers and ten little toes and eyes just like his.
I’m no beauty. He’s too beast. Fun times ahead.
They say you can’t run forever.
Sometimes you stand. Sometimes you fight.
And sometimes an unbroken hero barges back in to lay down the law…

From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Nicole Snow – old promises and jaw-dropping secrets collide in a small town love-storm. A punished mountain of a man retakes the girl who hasn’t told him he’s a dad. Surprise! Full-length romance novel with a Happily Ever After that’s even crazier than you think.
EXCERPT:
I’m sure she’ll say yes. I think.
But there’s this breathless moment when I think I might be about to get my heart crushed. She just stares at me with her eyes so wide, unblinking.
Goddamn, I know she loves me. Know she wants to run away with me.
But what if I’ve pushed too hard, too fast? It’s honestly asking a lot after the life she’s been trapped in. This much change just might be terrifying and—
“Yes!” she cries, tumbling down into my arms, barely catching the ring box to clasp it between our twined hands.
Then comes the kiss to end all kisses. It tastes wet and salty, her tears flowing freely.
Maybe not just hers, even if I’ll never admit it out loud.
Even if she’d said no, I’d still have done everything in my power to protect her.
To save her from that wretched man.
Still, the fact that she wants to leave that life behind not just as my lover, but as my wife means the damn universe.
It’s everything. It makes everything I’ve endured to get here worth it.
The pain. The torture. The conditioning. The brainwashing that even now scares me, when I’ve done everything I can to fake compliance while fighting the command triggers burned into my grey matter.
She’s the one reason I’ve been able to hold on.
And she doesn’t even know how long she’s been keeping me together.
One fine day, I’ll tell her.
I’ll tell her how young Tiger fought against his bonds each and every time Dr. Ross held him down and injected him with burning shit to make him more obedient and whispered the same words to him over and over and over, engraving them deep in his brain.
I’ll tell her how that boy held on to her and wouldn’t let him take the memory of a pretty girl twirling a flower between her fingers under the summer sun, and the shy, sweet way she looked at him.
I’ll tell her about an older kid wondering who she grew into, now and then dreaming her voice. The same voice I remembered hearing deep down in the catacombs under the mansion.
I’ll tell her about carving her face into thin slips of wood, carving flowers I swore I’d give her one day, holding on to them when I felt like I’d break at the slightest provocation.
I’ll tell her how sometimes the neat lines between love and obsession get so blurred, I can’t even breathe anymore without picturing her.
That’s why I want to save her so much.
Because Clarissa saved me.
Right now isn’t the time for those words, though. Now’s the time for tearful kisses, for the tight roughness in my throat, for her arms around my neck and her body against mine, and then we’re hand in hand, and I’m sliding that pretty, slender engagement ring on her delicate finger.
I can’t stop smiling, and my smile echoes on her lips, in her eyes.
We don’t need to say a word as we stand, picking at the flowers from the edge of the cliff, hand in hand.
Yeah, it’s that corny old legend, the lovers of Heart’s Edge.
That old promise.
The one where they say if you toss flowers over the cliff with the person you love, maybe you’ll be together forever.
So we pluck the petals with starry-eyed looks and hold them up high. And when we cast them over the edge and into the wind, sending them swirling into the night, I think I can see our forever.
Little do we know that our promise ends in less than a week…

Steamy, touching, heart-warming. A much-needed #OwnVoices romance to go perfectly with that plate of chocolate brownies and glass of wine!
EXCERPT:
I needed to get laid. At least, that’s what my amber cocktail made me think—correction, my third amber cocktail. If the first two hadn’t murdered my inhibition, the third managed to land the final blow.
Minus my usual filter, my eyes wandered around the room, hunting for a man to prey on. The bar was packed for a Tuesday night. Waves of chatter encompassed me, creating a low hum in my ears. But I didn’t care about the noise, not when a particular delicious specimen held me captivated, with hair the hue of rich caramel sticking out in different directions. He sat at the bar, hunched over his drink. A brunette with boobs practically spilling out of her top tried to speak to him, but he shook his head and tapped in front of his ear twice, before turning back to his drink.
She may have slinked back to her friend, but I bit my lip, taming down the grin threatening to split my face. Perfect. My fingers itched to communicate, or smooth down his messy hair.
Perhaps both.
Before I could make up my mind, his broad shoulders stiffened and he turned. My alcohol-induced bravado vanished, and I tried to wrench my gaze away. Except, I didn’t move. Not an inch. Total disconnect from cranial activity to body movement. Damn fruity drinks. A pair of brown eyes locked with mine. Crap. I knew better than to be rude and stare.
Quick, sign something, I willed my hands, anything.
