Out Of the Dark

Summary:

Everyone makes choices in life. Carina Porter has made the wrong one. After graduating
from college, she sits beneath her complimentary blanket in first class dreaming of what’s
in store for her when she lands in Italy. Having always thought of other's first, she has
resolved to experience an indulgent adventure. Finally free from the demands of her
collegiate studies, she's determined to break away from her sensible nature and take risks.
Her daydreams are interrupted when a handsome and much older man sits beside her.
Stefan is dashing and she gets swept away in tales of his family and vineyard. After a
brief courtship, she makes a reckless choice- to marry a man she hardly knows. Carina
believes she's in love, but in time she learns how cold-hearted Stefan really is.
Carina befriends Bianca, Stefan’s maid, and discovers that things are not as they seem at
Savano vineyard. Carina seeks answers but finds more questions. It seems everyone on
the estate keeping a secret. When Stefan’s mother becomes ill, he and Carina move to the
family vineyard in the small town of Ravine Creek.
It is there that Carina meets Enzo Savano, Stefan's nephew. Carina is drawn to his kind
and free-spirited nature. She fights against her traitorous feelings for him, but their
forbidden attraction grows each day. Carina is faced with her own family tragedy and the
only person there for her in her time of need is Enzo.
After fighting against their feelings for as long as they can, Carina and Enzo begin a
heated affair. Their passion blooms, taking root in their hearts, and Carina must choose
between the safety of existing in an unhappy marriage, or life filled with love beside
Enzo. Her decision will not only destroy a family, it may even be fatal.

Teaser:

“Thank you for this. You were right. I needed to eat.” I wipe my mouth with a napkin.

Enzo picks French fries off my plate without asking and dips them in my ketchup. It doesn’t bother me one bit.

“Do you feel better?” he asks.

I speak from my heart, looking him right in the eye. “I always feel better when I’m with you.”

He smiles but says nothing. I watch as he cleans up our dinner, rolling the room service cart into the hallway. I sit on the edge of the bed, legs together, feet dangling in the air. I watch him walk back to me. I feel like I should leave, but I know I’m not going to. I want him to come closer and he does. He walks toward me until he’s standing right in front of me. I look up at him, and then he drops to his knees.

My gaze follows his and with him kneeling before me, his eyes are even with mine. He places his hands on the bed beside me. Our bodies are not touching . . . but I want them to be. Pieces of me are screaming out for him to get closer. Desire runs hot in my blood. My heart pounds and my breath quickens, but all he does is look at me. I want him. I want to kiss him but he’s just kneeling there staring at me. Completely hypnotized, I can’t look away from his gaze. The air between us is heavy, and the anticipation of what’s about to happen is suffocating and thrilling at the same time. Sensing my poignant desire, he leans closer and his hips press against my knees.

“Spread your legs,” he whispers.

It’s not a demand or a question. It’s just what we both want. I do as he says and his waist fits between my knees. His suit pants brush against my stockings and make a rustling sound. He touches my shoulders, then my neck, then my face. His lips wrap around mine. My legs tangle around his waist and my arms snake around his neck as he kisses me. I pull his face closer. His lips are soft but aggressive. Our mouths open and melt together, and I feel his hot breath against my cheek.

He pushes me down on to the bed, and I can feel him. He’s hard where I’m soft and wet. I feel it through our clothing. Ripples of chills run through me. He slides up and down against me as we kiss, and we moan together at the pleasure and heat rising and growing between us. I want him so badly, but he stops our kiss. With his arms at either side of my face, he looks down at me, but his hips keep moving. His hardness keeps sliding and grinding between my legs, against my body where I most want to feel it. His eyes narrow as he moves, and he inhales and then sighs. I bring my hands up and run them over his jaw, through his hair, over his head, and down his shoulders. I begin to unbutton his shirt. My mouth falls open as he rubs against me faster. I don’t care if it’s wrong. I want him inside me. I pull him down so I can kiss him again. Our tongues touch and withdraw as I hold his face, and his hands explore my body. My arms, my breasts, the back of my thighs, my neck. My skin knows that his hands are new and different. It’s exhilarating. We kiss deeply as he moves against me, and my skin is on fire. I push the straps of my dress down. I want to feel his body, naked.

Out of the Dark is coming from TWCS this December...

Seventeen-year-old Oliver Wendell Holmes (Yes, his parents are just that peculiar, but his brother’s name is Sherlock, so it could have been worse) knows that he’s different. He’s quirky, awkward, and he’s okay with that. Oliver also likes making lists—meticulous procedures for achieving his goals, step-by-step. Whether it’s “How to Get an A in Chemistry” or “How to Get Accepted to MIT,” he has a process, and it’s worked for him so far. He doesn’t even care that the popular kids mock him. Oliver’s got his eye on the prize.

So when he decides it’s time to declare his feelings for Ainsley Bishop, the girl of his dreams, it’s only natural for him to make a list—a point-by-point strategy to win her heart. He knows it will take a grand gesture for her to see all he has to offer, and her approaching birthday provides the ideal opportunity for Oliver to put his plan into action.

Finding the perfect gift is a challenge Oliver meets with his usual dogged determination. He’ll need to watch her carefully for clues to pinpoint exactly what he should give her. And along the way, he might just learn that what Ainsley really needs is not quite what he expected.

About the Author
T.M. Franklin started out her career writing non-fiction in a television newsroom. Graduating with a B.A. in Communications specializing in broadcast journalism and production, she worked for nine years as a major market television news producer, and garnered two regional Emmy Awards, before she resigned to be a full-time mom and part-time freelance writer. After writing and unsuccessfully querying a novel that she now admits, “is not that great,” she decided to follow the advice of one of the agents who turned her down—write some more and get better at it. Her first published novel, MORE, was born during National Novel Writing month, a challenge to write a novel in thirty days.

She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, Mike, is mom to two boys, Justin and Ryan, and has an enormous black dog named Rocky who’s always lying nearby while she’s writing. Whether he’s soothed by the clicking of the computer keys or just waiting for someone to rub his belly is up for debate.

In addition to MORE, Franklin penned the Amazon best-selling short story, Window, as well as another short story, A Piece of Cake, which appears in the Romantic Interludes anthology. The sequel to MORE, The Guardians, will be released November 7, 2013.

Firestorm by Rory Ni Coileain BLOG TOUR w/ Interview & Giveaway

Firestorm Tour Banner

Title: Firestorm
Author: Rory Ni Coileain
Release Date: February 28, 2014
Genre: Erotic Paranormal Romance

Synopsis

Rian Sheridan is a foundling, a Northern Irish Catholic corner boy whose world was destroyed in fire, and reborn the same way, beside an Orangemen’s bonfire last July the Twelfth. A consuming, dimly-remembered pain in his past calls to him, taunting him, daring him to find it and lose himself to it in the S&M underground of Belfast. Cuinn an Dearmad is the last surviving Fae Loremaster, and he’s just seen the beginning of the death of the Realm, the haven of the Fae race. The only hope of stopping it starts with him finding the Prince Royal of Fire he stole from the cradle, and lost in the human world, many years ago. He has a few guesses about where that hope ends, and he doesn’t like any of them. Rian and Cuinn are an impossible pairing, two SoulShared Fae. Any two Fae will strike sparks, but these two Fae are a conflagration. Unable to stand one another, yet drawn into an escalating series of sexual collisions, their passion will either save a world or destroy it.

Firestorm Teaser 4

Excerpt

Shite. Apparently thinking of the male was enough to make him appear. Although, to be honest, if that were the case, Cuinn would have been here several hours and a dozen small fires ago. “I don’t suppose you’d feck off if I asked.” The answering silence went on for so long that Rian finally hauled the pillow off and turned his head toward the voice. Oh, Jaysus. Never had he seen a man so beautiful; the sight stopped his heart. Beauty had never been a concern of his, only what a man was willing to do to him, to bring him closer to what he needed. But there was little of desire in the way the Fae looked at him. Nothing like what he’d grown accustomed to, through the use of his gift, making men want him whether they willed it or no. “I wouldn’t.” There was exhaustion in Cuinn’s voice, as if he’d spent the time since their coffeehouse tryst at some heavy labor. “Though I would, if I had any sense of self-preservation.” There was a sobering, and unsettling, sense of finality to the other Fae’s words. “I’m not after destroying you.” Not that he hadn’t wanted to, a time or two. But the taste of joy he’d had in the coffeehouse had changed all that. Cuinn shook his head. “It’s not your doing.” He seemed about to say something else, but stopped, and sniffed, brows arching as he glanced around the bedroom. “I realize everyone needs a hobby, but arson? Really?” Rian pushed himself up to sit against the headboard, with a sense of deja vu. Had it only been the middle of last night, when Cuinn appeared to him, determined to resist him but doomed to fail? “It helps. A little.”

Interview Time!
See how Rory responded to some of my quirky questions:

Name one actor/actress you would like to get naughty with.
Liam Neeson. *falls into happy contemplative daze and nearly misses the next question*

Do you like dogs or cats?
Individual dogs, and all cats. I had a bad experience with a mastiff once when I was maybe three years old, and I have to get over it all over again when I meet a new dog. At least, dogs over a certain size.

If I came to your home and looked inside the refrigerator, what would I find?
It depends. If you arrive before my 17-year-old son gets home from school: skim milk, bread, cottage cheese, bagels, a 2-liter bottle of soda, lunch meat, ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce. After my 17-year-old-son gets home: nothing. Well, maybe lettuce.

Which is the best vacation you've ever had?
I go on vacation so seldom, they’re all pretty darn memorable. But right now I’d have to say the latest one. My mom decided to take the whole family with her on a Caribbean cruise right before Christmas. It wasn’t anything I would ever have decided to do on my own, but it was amazing. Best part: finding the 50’s-era piano bar our first night out, and having my son love it as much as I did and close the place down with me every night.

If given complete freedom to start afresh, what profession would you choose and why?
Yikes. I re-think this one almost daily, and the same four keep coming up – theoretical physicist, teacher, linguist, theologian. If I had to pick one, it would probably be the theoretical physicist.

Are you a morning person or a night person?
Night. Are you kidding? – I don’t even register on an EEG before noon…

Which is your most favorite place in this earth?
Am I limited to places I’ve actually been? Probably Manhattan. With the Glens of Antrim a close second. But I completely fell in love with the Isle of Skye when I was writing Heart of the Oak. I’d move there in a heartbeat, if I knew I could have Internet access…

About the Author

Rory Ni Coileain
I majored in creative writing, back when Respectable Colleges didn’t offer such a major, so I designed it myself – being careful to ensure that I never had to take a class before nine in the morning or take a Hemingway survey course. I was lucky enough to score the wonderful P.C. Hodgell as a major advisor, too, and to spend several years in a writer’s workshop with Eleanor Arnason. I graduated Phi Beta Kappa at the age of nineteen, sent off my first short story to an anthology being assembled by an author I idolized, got one of those rejection letters that you talk about with your therapist until you’re old and gray, and found other things to do, such as corporate law and nightclub singing, for the next thirty years or so, until I discovered, entirely by chance (except that I don’t believe in chance), the world of m/m erotic romance. Now I have a day job as a legal editor that I’m aching to quit, I’m the mother of a high school senior (when did THAT happen?) and a member of my church choir and the St. Mark’s Cathedral Choral Society, and I’m trying frantically to keep up with the adventures of a group of very randy Fae and tree spirits and the humans who can’t seem to help falling in love with them.

NEW RELEASE: Beatless by Amber L. Johnson

Synopsis
Mallory Durham has been left behind and it is making her feel less like an adult and more like an afterthought.

Divorce, sickness, educational aspirations being shattered, and her Aunt Sam moving into her home, have made Mal's life nearly unrecognizable to her.

When Tucker Scott re-enters her life along with his band, will they offer what she needs to once again find her voice and self confidence or will it strip her of it even more?

Told through the dual voices of Mallory as she navigates her new world, and Aunt Sam's letters to her niece, Beatless tells the story of two women at very different points in their life, fighting the same battles; proving that no matter what age a person is, there are always lessons to be learned.
